Non Emergency Services
Metropolitan Ambulance Service provides non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) within the Melbourne and greater Melbourne metropolitan area. Occasionally there is a requirement to transport outside of our regional boundary.
Billing for non emergency transport is calculated according to numerous factors. Non emergency transport is governed by NEPT regulations which cover planned transports as well as routine transports and people requesting non emergency transport must meet the relevant NEPT authorisation criteria.
Non emergency transport services include Newborn Emergency Transport Services (NETS), standby ambulances at public events and activities, stretcher transport and clinic transport services.
Last financial year (2004/2005) our Non Emergency Services department transported 120,858 stretcher and 53,036 clinic car patients.
