Vehicles

The Metropolitan Ambulance Service has a wide range of vehicles, selected and developed to cater for various emergency, non-emergency and special event needs.

Our fleet includes ambulance stretcher vehicles, single response vehiclesmountain bikes, and large support vehicles.

Vehicle selection and development is based on a number of criteria, designed to ensure the safest and most practical emergency vehicle is available for all users.

The reflective vehicle livery seen on many of our vehicles is developed specifically to improve the visibility and safety of the vehicle for paramedics and other road users.

Driver training is also an important component of vehicle selection and introduction. All paramedics are given specific training in driving service vehicles, and maintain this standard through on-going information sessions and in-field assessments.
