Clinical Practice Guidelines
The Ambulance Victoria Clinical Practice Guidelines represent a multi-disciplinary consensus on the management of common pre-hospital emergency problems that under normal circumstances Victorian ambulance and MICA paramedics are expected to follow.
The Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) Medical Standards Committee has responsibility for the development, maintenance and authorisation of Clinical Practice Guidelines and Clinical Work Instructions for use by Melbourne’s Metropolitan Ambulance Service.
Our Medical Standards Committee consists of the:
- MAS General Manager, Clinical and Non-Emergency Operations
- MAS General Manager, Emergency and Aeromedical Operations
- Rural Ambulance Victoria Manager of Clinical Services
- MAS MICA and ambulance paramedic employee representatives
- MAS appointed Medical Advisers
- MAS Manager, Clinical Standards
- A representative from the College of Emergency Physicians
MAS Clinical Practice Guidelines and Clinical Work Instructions are under constant review with future changes being evidence-based in line with National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines. Feedback on their clinical use is welcome and should be directed to the Manager, Clinical Standards.
