Emergency Medical Response

The Emergency Medical Response (EMR) program is a first responder partnership with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) that aims to improve outcome of patients in sudden cardiac arrest by strengthening the chain of survival.

Metropolitan Ambulance Service paramedics are responsible for the training and supporting dispatch of firefighters to 000 calls for life-threatening events such as cardiac arrests.

Fire trucks are equipped with defibrillators and over 900 fire fighters have been trained to provide CPR and defibrillation in those early crucial minutes after someone has a cardiac arrest.
