Paramedics and registered nurses who staff the Referral Service take up to 70 calls a day for low acuity complaints.
These include:
- Headaches
- Abdominal pain
- Allergies
- Eye problems or injuries
- Non-violent psychiatric cases
- Single fainting episodes
- Traffic accident, no injuries
- Traumatic injuries, not dangerous or non recent injuries
- Back pain
- Burns
- Heat/cold exposure
- Overdose/poisoning
- Pregnancy (no contractions, waters broken)
