While widely regarded as a world leading ambulance service, we are not content to simply maintain our service level.

As such we have a number of initiatives to ensure that we can continue to do it better.

April 2008 saw a record funding announcement for ambulance care and a restructure on the way it is delivered to Victorians: Metropolitan Ambulance Service and Rural Ambulance Victoria becoming one organisation, Ambulance Victoria.

We have designed and implemented the Victorian Ambulance Clinical Information System (VACIS), which is revolutionising the way ambulance services record clinical data worldwide.

Through our call referral service we have taken a unique approach to dealing with demand. We have also taken proactive steps to deal with drug affected patients .

In dealing with major emergencies, we have positioned ourselves as an authority through the establishment and resourcing of our emergency management department .
